Born in Kentucky, Mike's family moved him and his siblings early in their lives to Madison County, AL. Graduating from Bob Jones High School, Mike worked for his stepfather in the residential construction arena during the day and attended Athens State College at night where he earned a B.S. in Biology with a double minor in Math and Computer Science. It was during this time that Mike learned the business from the ground up, becoming a supervisor for this company. With his hard-earned degree in hand, he chose to stay in residential construction, forming his company in 1985. Since then, Mike has become a member of the Huntsville/Madison County Builders Association, the State Home Builders Assiciation, the National Home Builders Association, and the Better Business Bureau. He is the past president and is very active in his local Builders Association. He has held the positions of President, 1st Vice-President, Construction Manager of the 2003 Showcase Home, and has served on many other committees of the H/MCBA. He recently received the 2004 Jerry L. Siniard Builder of the Year Award from the H/MCBA.

Gwen was born and raised in Madison, AL, graduated from Butler High School, and earned a degree from Athens State University in Business Administration. With her degree, along with the Realtor's license that she had acquired, it was natural that Mike and Gwen would join forces and partner in this newly formed business.

Mike and Gwen have four children: Diann (University of Alabama graduate and working for MJCH), Brandon (working in the construction area), Shanna (University of Alabama in Huntsville graduate and nurse in Birmingham), and Caitlyn (a senior at Madison Academy). Mike and Gwen also have five grandchildren to keep them busy: Lissi, Peyton, Brandon, Harrison, and Reese.
